Texas June Unemployment remains at 6.5%
Further economic sign that Texas is doing remarkably well is the latest number for the Unemployment rate. Whereas the national average is at 7.6%, Texas’ remains at 6.5%. With the influx of companies from out of state coming to the North Austin / Round Rock area, there has been a tremendous creation of jobs and demand for talent. The result a smaller pool of unemployed. The Associated Press states that:
The June unemployment rate for Texas held steady from May at 6.5 percent.
The Texas Workforce Commission announced Friday that the statewide seasonally adjusted figure compares to the U.S. jobless rate of 7.6 percent last month.
TWC officials in Austin say Texas added 5,800 seasonally adjusted nonfarm jobs in June for a total of about 303,000 jobs added since a year ago.
Chairman Andres Alcantar says economic growth in Texas has proven to be diverse, consistent and long term.
The Midland area had the lowest June unemployment rate statewide at 3.7 percent. The McAllen-Edinburg-Mission area had the highest jobless rate last month at 11.6 percent.
The national economy is slowly moving forward, and with the recent message from the President that additional focus will be placed on the economy, it is likely that the growth rate will increase further. That can only mean good news for business owners from the North Austin / Round Rock area looking to start new businesses.
